In this first episode, we’re talking about the importance of self-care for teachers.
The Importance of Self-Care for Teachers
Show Notes:
Why Is Self-Care So Important for Teachers?
- Your physical, mental, and emotional well-being rely on making time for yourself. When you’re feeling stressed from all the lesson planning, grading, and other responsibilities at school and at home, it can lead to anxiety, depression, and other mental issues.
- As teachers, we are always trying to do things for everyone else. We put their needs above our own, and that keeps us from taking care of ourselves. You can’t be the best teacher or the best parent if you’re constantly exhausted and stressed. Taking time for yourself is going to make you a better version of yourself.
Action Steps:
- Schedule time for self-care, just like you schedule doctor’s appointments. Figure out times when you can add self-care to your day. Even if you only have a few minutes, those small doses of self-care can make a big difference.
- Come back and listen to this podcast each week for more self-care tips.
- Don’t go on your self-care journey alone. Find a family member or fellow teacher who also wants to work on self-care. You can also join me and other teachers in the Teacher Self-Care Community Facebook Group. (Request to join now, and it will officially open on May 27th.)
