However, it looks like a purse, and you can put everything you need in it. That way, you don’t have to carry two separate bags.

This is the bag I’m currently using for school. I’ve tried lots of different ones, and this one has definitely lasted longer than most of them. I’ve had it for two years now, and I’m planning to use it next year as well.

One of the great things about this bag is that it comes in so many different colors and patterns. Everyone can find one they love.

There is also plenty of space for your computer and other teaching essentials.

Ok, this one isn’t really a bag. However, it’s a great alternative if you have back problems or don’t want to carry a bag.

This folding cart can carry all of your school supplies, and you can pull it into your building. I love that it even has a lid in case it’s raining!

The only problem I can see with this option is if your classroom is upstairs like mine. I would either have to try to carry it up the steps or use the elevator every day. However, if you have a first floor classroom, this could be a great option for you!

My Goal

My ultimate goal is to ditch my teacher bag and get everything done during the school day. I have found some ways to reduce the number of papers I take home to grade. However, I still end up toting things back and forth between my classroom and my house, so I guess I’m stuck with a teacher bag for now. It’s really not so bad, since I can find options like these that are fashionable and great for organization.

The Most Comfortable Shoes for Teachers

I just finished week 1 of state testing here in Pennsylvania. That means I spent 3 hours “actively monitoring” (aka walking up and down the aisles in my classroom) for the 3 days of ELA testing. Last year, my feet were sore and covered in band-aids by the end of the first testing week. This year, I did some research and found comfortable shoes that helped my feet survive hours of pacing.

After trying many different shoes and consulting other teachers at my school for their suggestions, these are the most comfortable shoes for teachers.

#1 – Sam Edelman ‘Felicia’ Flat

I first discovered this shoe in one of my trunks from Trunk Club My stylist send a pair in Lavendar Silk, a very pretty shade of light purple. I loved them as soon as I set eyes on them. Then, I slid my foot in and never wanted to take them off. Unfortunately, I started thinking logically and realized that I didn’t have much to wear with purple shoes. I couldn’t convince myself to spend $100 on shoes I wouldn’t be able to wear very often. I very regretfully sent them back.

However, I never forgot those shoes. When I received Nordstrom’s next sale email, I headed to the website to look for the Felicia Flat. Luckily, I was able to find a pretty gold pair for $60. I bought them, and I love them. I got so many compliments, and my feet were unscathed at the end of day 1 of testing.

#2 – TOMS Classic Canvas Slip-On

TOMS are a recommendation from other teachers at my school. They wear them all the time without any foot pain. With 1,238 five star reviews on the Nordstrom website, you can’t go wrong with TOMS. This will be the next shoe I purchase.

#3 – Alegria Debra Slip-On

Like TOMS, Alegria was a recommendation from other teachers. These shoes have memory foam to support and cushion your feet as you walk. They also come in many different designs and colors.

#4  – Sketchers Women’s GOwalk 4 

Sketchers has been my g0-to brand for sneakers since I was in high school. When I started teaching and couldn’t wear sneakers every day, I realized Sketchers also makes some shoes that pass as appropriate for school. Amazingly, they are just as comfortable as the sneakers.

#5 – Tieks

Every teacher I’ve talked to who owns a pair of Tieks says they are the most comfortable shoes they’ve ever worn. I haven’t invested in a pair of Tieks yet, but it’s definitely on my wish list. I love all the colors of Tieks! If I decide to splurge on them, it’s going to take me forever to choose a color.
